Tech Futures is supporting a number of enhanced oil recovery projects in Alberta and internationally. The experienced gained through international projects and relationships, provides opportunities to identify technologies that could potentially be applied to Alberta reserves to improve recovery.
Alberta has only produced 15.4 billion barrels (Bbbl) of Alberta’s 64.6 Bbbl of conventional oil, and without increased recovery, it is expected only a further 1.6 Bbbl will be recovered. Effective use of technology could increase that amount by 3.6 Bbbl.
Tech Futures works directly with operating companies to successfully develop and deploy technologies. An integrated approach can support companies in minimizing risk and improving financial returns of EOR projects through laboratory studies, simulation, technical evaluation, visualization, economics evaluation, pilot design, and pilot monitoring.
