Tech Futures continues to attract and support high quality students in the platform research area of Synthetic Biology through the annual aGEM Jamboree. September 24 through 25, students will present machines built from the provided International Genetically Engineered Machine competition (iGEM) toolbox. This practice presentation, judged by a panel of national experts, provides teams with feedback to further finesse their scientific methodologies and to hone their presentations. Last year, teams from University of Alberta, University of Calgary and University of Lethbridge were all awarded gold medals at iGEM for their work. Practice makes perfect!

Alberta Nanotech Showcase 2.0

Focusing on a market-needs-based approach, this showcase and networking event is aimed at connecting industry, research and public agencies to advance the use of nanotechnologies in the province. The program will cover a wide range of topics in nano over a variety of sectors, paving the way for potential collaborations with market channel partners for nanotechnology-based solutions.
Nanotechnology, the manipulation of matter at a molecular or nano scale, is leading to revolutionary advances in medicine, environmental protection, energy production and many other facets of life.
Fibre Processing Workshop

Focusing on producer participation in the green economy this seminar will highlight processing options and demonstrate the capabilities of the ABDC. The ABDC has the capacity to offer fibre processing services at 1 tonne/hour with its new fibre processing facility. This seminar will discuss and demonstrate the capabilities of the ABDC to facilitate growth of the biomaterials industry in Alberta.
